The Immaculate Vulva Art Print

Part religious icon, part stained glass window, part celebration of the vulva, The Immaculate Vulva gives female anatomy the sort of dramatic treatment usually reserved for saints and people who have apparently performed a miracle.

I wanted to take something completely ordinary, the vulva, and give it the full religious treatment, complete with a stained glass backdrop and an appropriately sacred looking pose, because if we can put almost anything in a church window, why not celebrate one of the most wonderfully complicated bits of the female body?

There’s something quite funny about taking a vulva and giving it this sort of grand, religious treatment, while at the same time it’s actually a pretty lovely way of celebrating the female body. It’s a playful piece of feminist art about female anatomy, body positivity and being comfortable with the bodies we have, without taking itself too seriously.

Basically, I looked at a vulva and thought, “That needs more stained glass.”
